It all started when I got tired of surviving. After spending eight long years in an abusive relationship, I made the boldest decision of my life—I left. I took my five children, packed up what little we had, and found refuge in a domestic violence shelter. I had no plan, no savings, no support… but I had faith.
My first job after leaving was in a factory. I was on my feet for 12-hour shifts, barely making minimum wage. The work was grueling, but it gave me two things: a paycheck I earned on my own, and the chance to listen to audio through my headphones. Every hour, I rotated to a different station on the factory line—and with each rotation, I was rotating through prayer, personal growth podcasts, and financial education on YouTube.
I remember asking myself:
“How do I break free from this paycheck-to-paycheck cycle?”
I didn’t want survival—I wanted to thrive.
So I started studying success. I looked up how millionaires used their 24 hours differently than I was using mine. I learned that they read daily, exercised consistently, protected their mindset, and made intentional decisions about money. I became obsessed with studying millionaires, listening to motivational speakers, financial educators, and business coaches as if they were my personal mentors.
I made a decision:
I will not be average. I will become the best version of myself—for me, and for my kids.
5 Years Later: What Changed?
Today, my life looks nothing like it did back then. I’ve upgraded:
- My income through smart career moves and side businesses
- My mindset through consistent personal development
- My financial habits using simple but powerful strategies
- My faith by trusting God with every step
- My health with daily movement and intentional eating
I’ve mastered budgeting as a single mom, paid off debt using the snowball method, and finally learned how to pay myself first. I now invest in my businesses and my future. I use what I once saw as setbacks as fuel for my success.
My Daily Non-Negotiables:
- Prayer & devotion time to stay spiritually aligned
- Reading or listening to financial literacy content every day
- Sticking to a realistic budget
- Saying NO to impulse spending
- Eating clean and moving my body
- Protecting my peace—watching what I let into my mind
Why I Share My Story
Because I know there’s another woman out there feeling stuck, tired, and desperate for a way out. You may be a single mother. You may be living paycheck to paycheck. You may be in a toxic situation wondering if freedom is even possible.
Let me tell you—it is.
Faith-based financial freedom is real, but it starts with a decision. A decision to shift your mindset, set goals, get educated, and refuse to stay stuck.
